Dogwood Sawflies

Damage is done by the larvae, leaf-feeding insects that can chew rapidly through tissue. Sawflies occur in groups, usually, and can strip leaves from branches  in short order. In small infestations, they can be removed by hand, pruned out, or washed off with water and squashed. Spray treatments are very effective.
