Open cankers that form on the main trunk and large lateral limbs of beech trees and other trees. Can lead to decline and death unless controlled. Usually associated with some kind of stress factor such as age, drought or mechanical injury to tree or root mass. Bark spray treatments with Agri-Fos have been effective.
