Blue Stain Fungus

A fungal disease (Leptographium spp.) introduced into a variety of conifers, notably Japanese black pines, by bark beetles and pinewood nematodes. A the fungus grows, it blocks the sap flow, which eventually kills the tree. The damage can be seen in the wood of the tree, hence the name “blue stain” fungus. There is no treatment for this disease
